Type of Tournament:
This is a boat/team tournament. All fish must be entered for official weigh-in in the presence of a boat/team representative.
Angling Rules:
There are no IGFA or any other angling rules applied. Catch your fish using any means possible other than electric reels. Spearfishing is also prohibited. Any bait, including live bait, is permitted.
All participants must have a valid Florida Saltwater fishing license. Please visit the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission website for more information.
Eligible Species:
Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Tuna, Kingfish, and Wahoo. All fish must be presented at weigh-in in fresh, edible condition and caught during tournament hours. All fish must meet the minimum required legal length. Frozen, packaged, or mutilated fish will not be weighed.
Scoring:
Nine fish per boat will be entered at the final weigh-in with up to 3 fish from each eligible species. The tournament winner will be the boat that has the highest combined weight of all nine fish.
Prizes:
There will be a total of seven prizes:
First Place overall weight
Second Place overall weight
Third Place overall weight
Biggest Dolphin
Biggest Tuna
Biggest Kingfish
Biggest Wahoo
Boundaries:
This is an open ocean tournament within US Territorial and International Waters. Fishing in Bahamian Waters is prohibited. Tournament officials reserve the right to check the boat’s chart plotter breadcrumb trails.
Weather:
In the event of unsafe weather or sea conditions, tournament officials may choose to postpone the tournament. Captains are ultimately responsible for their crew and should make the decisions regarding sea and weather conditions.
Protest:
Any protests concerning the conduct of an angler or rules violation must be filed in writing to tournament officials no later than 3 PM on the day of the tournament. Do not put lead weights in your fish as the lead will melt and ruin most grills. Anyone found guilty of cheating will be banned for life from the fishing tournament but will probably be highly sought after for the SFCA Fishing Tournament. If you are caught kidnapping a fellow angler in an attempt to keep them from participating and thus gain an advantage, you will be banned for one year. You can appeal the decision and will probably be reinstated. All decisions made by SFCA Chairman Tom Worthington are final.
